…Are way more important than politics, philosophy or anything else really. That can only mean one thing: Music. Such splendid is the recent news is in this lovely branch of human enterprises that I cannot ignore it any longer. Well I haven’t ignored it of course, since I do small, simple updates of Slashsworld every now and then, and I write more than is posted here. Two artists: one common root. W. Axl Rose and Saul Hudson, also, or better, known as Slash.

Guns N’ Roses released Chinese Democracy about a year ago, after more than ten long years of waiting. Dreadful for someone like me, irrational as I am when it comes to music. Gladly, but expected, the album was marvelous. Songs like ‘This I Love’, ‘Sorry’, ‘There Was A Time’ and ‘Better’ do more than just live-up to a Guns N’ Roses legacy. Compared to many of the old work it is superior in quality and the fact that I am admitting it, is saying something.

But things aren’t as alive as they were, not when it comes to this band. After their last tour things once again faded, except for the album of course. Surprisingly enough, with rumors of 13 million dollar investments in the album, nearly no advertisement has been done at all. It is almost like they do not want to make a profit out of  it. There is news now though. I hope it will give a boost to albums sales as well as their reputation, because Guns N’ Roses will finally embark on a tour again.  Starting in Asia, then going to Canada, and then rumor tells us that Peru, or maybe even South-America, will be next. For the confirmed dates you can take a look on Here Today … Gone To Hell.

Next: Slash. No mean feat either. Of course he has had his solo projects in the form of Slash’s Snakepit, but that was very different from what he has been up to lately. For quite some time the famous guitarist has been working on a solo album, featuring all sorts of artists from Alice Cooper to Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. Now the first material has also popped up on the internet, not all too surprising since the single is due to be released on November 11th in Japan anyway.

The first is a new song. The B-side of the single is an old classic, one which everyone ought to know. It’s called Paradise City. No Sir Axl Rose on vocals this time though. The above mentioned Fergie takes care of it this time. Except for the fact that I keep expecting Axl to step in at any moment, she doesn’t do a bad job at all. But feel free to make your own judgment:

Slash feat. Koshi Inaba – Sahara (The official single)

Slash feat. Fergie and Cypress Hill – Paradise City (B side to Sahara single)
